HTML, CSS and JavaScript Minifier

Safe whitespace and comment removal. It never renames variables or rewrites your code.

This is conservative on purpose. CSS: removes comments, extra whitespace and the last semicolon in a rule, and leaves strings and url() values alone. HTML: removes comments (except IE conditional comments) and collapses whitespace outside pre, textarea, script and style. JavaScript: a small tokenizer that respects strings, template literals, regex literals and comments, then removes only comments and whitespace; line breaks stay where removing them could change how the code runs. It does not shorten names, drop dead code or parse your syntax, so it cannot match tools like Terser or esbuild on size. Keep your original files, and test the minified output before deploying. Sizes are UTF-8 bytes before gzip.

What this tool does and who it is for

This tool shrinks HTML, CSS and JavaScript by removing comments and unneeded whitespace, then shows the byte savings. It never renames variables, drops code or rewrites values.

CSS strings and url() values are left untouched. HTML whitespace is collapsed except inside pre, textarea, script and style, and conditional comments are kept. JavaScript is handled by a small tokenizer that respects strings, template literals, regex literals and comments, so a URL like http://example.com inside a string is never damaged.

JavaScript mode is whitespace and comment removal only, so savings are smaller than with Terser or esbuild. Nothing is uploaded.

Official Formula / Technical Standard

Engineered in accordance with RFC standards and modern browser ECMAScript specifications.

Real-World Worked Scenario

Paste your input code or payload to inspect, format, validate, or convert data with instant syntax verification.

When people use it

Trimming an inline script or style block

Shrink a small snippet for an email template or an embed code.

Cleaning up copy-pasted CSS

Strip comments and indentation from a stylesheet excerpt.

Estimating potential savings

See roughly how much whitespace and comments cost in a file.

Quick one-off minification without tooling

Useful when you have no build step, such as a static page or a CMS widget.

Notes for US users

  • Minifying is one small part of page speed. Compression (gzip or Brotli) and image optimization usually matter more for Core Web Vitals.
  • Keep your unminified source. Minified code is hard to debug and edit.
  • If your site is on a platform like Shopify or WordPress, its own tools or a caching plugin may already minify assets.

Limits and what to double-check

  • •It does not parse JavaScript, so it cannot catch syntax errors or shorten names. Line breaks are kept where removing them might change behavior.
  • •Unusual syntax can defeat a tokenizer-based approach, for example a regex literal after a closing parenthesis. Test the output before deploying.
  • •HTML optional-tag removal, attribute shortening and CSS value rewriting are not done, so results are safe rather than minimal.

Expert Best Practices & Common Pitfalls

Recommended Best Practices

  • •Validate data schemas against official specification standards before production deployment.
  • •Keep sensitive API keys and production credentials out of external browser clipboards.
  • •Use automated formatters to maintain clean code consistency across development teams.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

  • •Pasting production API keys or customer data into unsecured cloud utility sites.
  • •Ignoring syntax error diagnostics and warnings highlighted by parsers.
  • •Assuming encoded data like Base64 provides cryptographic security.

Features & Security Architecture

  • 100% Client-Side: Zero server uploads ensure complete privacy and data confidentiality
  • Fast Results: Processing happens on your own device, so there is no upload or server queue to wait for
  • No Sign-Up Required: Completely free to use with no daily usage caps or account requirements
  • Works on All Devices: Fully responsive across desktop, tablet, and mobile browsers

Frequently Asked Questions

How does the HTML CSS JS Minifier work?▼

The HTML CSS JS Minifier runs 100% inside your web browser using modern client-side JavaScript. It performs calculations, conversions, and document processing locally on your device without sending any data to external servers.

Is this html css js minifier completely free to use?▼

Yes. This tool is completely free with no usage limits, no subscriptions, and no registration required.

Is my data private when using the HTML CSS JS Minifier?▼

Yes. Because all operations execute locally on your computer or phone, your inputs, documents, and data never leave your browser.

Is it safe for JavaScript?▼

It only removes comments and whitespace and keeps strings, template literals and regex literals intact. It keeps newlines where automatic semicolon insertion could matter. Still, run your tests on the minified code.

Why are my savings smaller than other tools?▼

Terser and esbuild also rename variables and rewrite expressions. This tool deliberately does not, in exchange for being predictable.

What happens to comments?▼

They are removed, except CSS or JS comments that begin with /*! or contain @license or @preserve, and IE conditional comments in HTML.

Will it break whitespace inside pre or textarea?▼

No. Content inside pre, textarea, script and style elements is left alone, apart from the optional inline CSS and JS minification, which you can switch off.

Are the sizes gzip sizes?▼

No. They are raw UTF-8 byte counts. After gzip or Brotli the difference between minified and unminified files is usually smaller.
