Interactive Favicon & App Icon Generator
Convert any logo into 16x16, 32x32, Apple Touch, and Android PWA favicons with standard HTML code.
Recommended size: 512x512 PNG with transparent background
What this tool does and who it is for
Upload a square logo and this tool produces the standard favicon set: 16x16 and 32x32 PNGs, a 180x180 Apple touch icon, and 192x192 and 512x512 Android icons. You also get a ready-to-paste block of link tags and a site.webmanifest file, all bundled in one ZIP.
Start with a square, high-resolution image, ideally 512 by 512 or larger, with a transparent background if your design allows. Each size is drawn from your original, so a blurry source gives blurry icons.
Note that it makes PNGs, not a classic favicon.ico file. Current browsers are fine with PNG icons declared in link tags, but if you want an .ico for old tools you will need a separate converter.
Official Formula / Technical Standard
Real-World Worked Scenario
Load an image, adjust target dimensions or quality parameters, and download the optimized graphic instantly.
When people use it
Launching a new site
Generate the whole icon set from your logo once, upload it to the site root and paste the link tags into your head.
Adding home-screen support
The 180px Apple icon and 192/512 Android icons let a site look right when saved to a phone's home screen.
Shopify, WordPress or Squarespace
Builders usually want one 512px square image, but custom themes may call for the separate files.
Refreshing a brand mark
Re-export the icons after a logo change and replace the old files so tabs and bookmarks update.
Notes for US users
- Browsers cache favicons aggressively, so after replacing yours you may need to hard refresh or wait before the new one shows.
- Google Search can display a site favicon in mobile results, and it asks for a multiple of 48 pixels. Check the current Google documentation.
- Keep the design simple. At 16 pixels, fine text turns to mush, so a bold letter or symbol works better than a full wordmark.
Limits and what to double-check
- •No .ico file and no SVG output. Only PNG sizes and a manifest are produced.
- •The generated manifest is minimal and uses placeholder naming. Edit the name, colors and paths to suit your site.
- •Non-square images are drawn stretched into a square, so crop yours first.
Expert Best Practices & Common Pitfalls
Recommended Best Practices
- •Choose modern WebP format for web graphics to minimize bandwidth while preserving visual fidelity.
- •Check image dimensions on both desktop displays and mobile phone screens.
- •Preserve correct aspect ratios to avoid distorted or stretched visuals.
Common Mistakes to Avoid
- •Uploading sensitive personal identification photos to unverified remote servers.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the Favicon Generator work?▼
The Favicon Generator runs 100% inside your web browser using modern client-side JavaScript. It performs calculations, conversions, and document processing locally on your device without sending any data to external servers.
Is this favicon generator completely free to use?▼
Yes. This tool is completely free with no usage limits, no subscriptions, and no registration required.
Is my data private when using the Favicon Generator?▼
Yes. Because all operations execute locally on your computer or phone, your inputs, documents, and data never leave your browser.
What size image should I upload?▼
A square PNG of at least 512 by 512 pixels works best, since the largest output is 512. Transparent backgrounds look cleaner on browser tabs. If your logo is wide, crop it to a square with the cropper before generating icons.
Where do the files go on my site?▼
Unzip them and upload to the root folder of your website, so paths like /favicon-32x32.png resolve. Then paste the supplied link tags into the head of your HTML or your theme's header settings. CMS platforms often have a dedicated upload field.
Do I still need a favicon.ico?▼
Most current browsers handle PNG icons declared with link tags. Some older tools and RSS readers still request /favicon.ico by default. If you want that covered, convert the 32px PNG into an .ico with a separate tool.
Why is my old favicon still showing?▼
Browsers and search engines cache favicons for a long time. Try a hard refresh, open the site in a private window, or give the new files different names and update the link tags. Search results can take days to reflect a change.
