Free Text Summarizer: Extractive Summary and Keywords
Pick the key sentences from long text, with a keyword list, in your browser. It selects sentences; it does not rewrite them.
Extractive Text Summarizer
Extractive: picks key sentences from your text. It does not rewrite or add anything.
102 words, 9 sentences. Works best on articles and reports of at least 5 sentences.
Top keywords
Extractive: it picks key sentences and does not rewrite them. Sentences are scored by how many frequent, non-filler words they contain, with a small boost for the opening of the text and each paragraph, and near-duplicates are skipped. Sentences stay in original order, so pronouns like "it" or "they" may lose their reference. Check the result against the source before quoting numbers or names.
What this tool does and who it is for
This is an extractive summarizer: it picks the most important sentences from your text and does not rewrite them. It scores each sentence by how many frequent, meaningful words it contains, boosts openings, skips near-duplicates, and returns the chosen sentences in their original order.
You control the length by percentage or by number of sentences, can switch to a bullet list, and see the top keywords. It also reports how much shorter the summary is than the original.
It runs in your browser and does not use a language model, so every sentence in the summary is copied word for word from your text.
Official Formula / Technical Standard
Real-World Worked Scenario
Enter or paste your text to perform instant transformations, count characters, and analyze typographic properties.
When people use it
Skimming a long article
Paste an article and keep about 20 to 30 percent of the sentences to get the gist before you decide whether to read it all.
Making notes from a report
Use the bullet option to pull key lines, then check them against the source.
Finding what a document is about
The keyword list shows the terms the text keeps returning to.
Drafting an executive summary
Use the extracted sentences as raw material, then rewrite in your own words.
Notes for US users
- Quoting extracted sentences in a paper still requires quotation marks and a citation in APA, MLA or whichever style your class uses.
- Check names, dates and figures against the source, especially for news, legal or medical text.
- Because it copies sentences, it works best on well-structured English prose such as articles, reports and essays.
Limits and what to double-check
- •It cannot paraphrase or combine ideas, and sentences can lose context. A pronoun such as it or they may point to something that was left out.
- •It needs enough text to work with. With only a few sentences there is little to choose between.
- •Scores are based on word frequency, so a point made once may be skipped even if it matters. Tables, lists and headings without full sentences are not handled well.

Frequently Asked Questions
How does the AI Text Summarizer work?▼
The AI Text Summarizer runs 100% inside your web browser using modern client-side JavaScript. It performs calculations, conversions, and document processing locally on your device without sending any data to external servers.
Is this ai text summarizer completely free to use?▼
Yes. This tool is completely free with no usage limits, no subscriptions, and no registration required.
Is my data private when using the AI Text Summarizer?▼
Yes. Because all operations execute locally on your computer or phone, your inputs, documents, and data never leave your browser.
Is this an AI summarizer?▼
No. It is extractive: it selects sentences using word-frequency scoring and a few rules. It does not generate new text, which means it cannot invent facts, but it also cannot explain or reword.
How are sentences chosen?▼
Common filler words are ignored. Each sentence gets a score from how often its remaining words appear across the text, with a small boost for the first sentence and for the start of each paragraph. Very short and very long sentences are scored down, and sentences too similar to one already chosen are skipped.
What length should I choose?▼
For articles, 20 to 30 percent is a good start. For short texts, choose a sentence count instead.
Does it work in other languages?▼
It is built for English. The filler-word list is English, so results in other languages will be rougher.
Is my text uploaded?▼
No. Everything happens in your browser.
