What this tool does and who it is for
Edit PDF lets you add things to an existing PDF in your browser: typed text, highlights, boxes, lines, arrows, freehand drawing, PNG or JPG images and whiteout patches. You see each page as you work, tap where items should go, move or resize them, and download a new PDF.
It is an annotation-style editor. New items are drawn on top of the page, so it cannot reword a paragraph or delete the original text in place. Whiteout hides content from view, but the words underneath stay in the file. If something must truly disappear, use Redact PDF instead.
Text is written with the standard PDF fonts (Helvetica, Times or Courier) in any size or color, with optional bold. Everything is saved as real page content in the new file, which works in any viewer. Your file is opened and saved in this browser tab and never uploaded.

Notes for US users
- Positions are kept in PDF points (72 per inch), so a US Letter page is 612 by 792 points. Items land where you placed them on Letter, Legal and A4 pages alike, including rotated pages.
- A typed name or a pasted signature image is not automatically a valid electronic signature. Under the E-SIGN Act, intent and the signing process matter, so use a proper e-signature service when a contract requires one.
- Do not alter official IRS, USCIS or state forms beyond filling in the blanks. Agencies can reject forms that look changed, and fillable versions are better filled with the PDF Forms tool.
Limits and what to double-check
- •Cannot edit, reflow or delete the PDF's existing text or images. New items sit on top of the page.
- •Whiteout is cosmetic. The covered content can still be selected, copied or extracted, so never use it to hide sensitive information.
- •The standard fonts support English and Western European characters only. Emoji and non-Latin scripts cannot be exported, and the preview uses your device's fonts, so spacing can differ slightly in the final file.

Is this free without watermarks?▼
Yes, completely free with no added branding or watermarks.
Can I change the existing text in my PDF?▼
No. This tool adds new content on top of the page. To change wording, edit the original source file, such as the Word document, and export a new PDF. As a workaround, you can whiteout the old words and type new ones over them, but the original text is still in the file and shows up if someone copies or searches it.
Does it work on every page?▼
Yes. Use the page arrows to move through the document. Items are kept separately for each page, and the counter shows how many you have added in total. When you save, every item is written onto its own page in a single new PDF.
Can I undo a mistake?▼
Yes. Undo and Redo buttons step back and forward through your changes, and on a keyboard Ctrl+Z and Ctrl+Y (Cmd on a Mac) work too. To remove one item, select it and press Delete or use the trash button. Your original file is never modified, so you can always start over.
Will the added text be searchable?▼
Yes. Text you type is written as real PDF text with an embedded standard font, so it can be selected and searched in most viewers. Highlights, boxes, lines and drawings are vector shapes, and images keep their pixels.
Does it work on a phone?▼
Yes. Pages scale to the screen, and you can place text, draw boxes and sketch with your finger. Turn on a tool to draw; with the Select tool active, you can still scroll the page. A larger screen is easier for precise placement.
